Diagnosed as an exquisitely allergic asthmatic shortly after she was born, Carly learned early that life throws you curve balls. Growing up as a bubble child, her life was dictated by her health conditions and limitations.
You can't play outdoor sports because of your asthma. You can't have the same snack as everyone else because of your allergies. You can't go to summer camp because it'll make you sick. She was sick of being told what she couldn't do. So she focused on what she could do.In college, everything changed when Carly decided to stop living passively and find a career she was excited about. She landed on a career in communications and began pursuing it by joining her college's student newspaper. There, she discovered that not only was communications something she could do, she did it exceptionally well.
Communication is where Carly thrives, whether she's talking to a crowd of five or 5,000 people, writing on behalf of herself, or helping a company tell its stories. After a decade in professional communications, Carly realized that her tenacious approach to life could help others, too. After continuing to achieve dreams in the midst of yet another health challenge—this time, a rare nerve disorder—she began her career as a keynote speaker, to help others realize that they have what it take to make their dreams happen, just like her. |
Never one to keep something like a nerve disorder from living her life, Carly's mobility aids just become an extension of her, whether that's at a fancy gala, in the snow, or as a bridesmaid.
